Concrete is a material that can be a little unpredictable as it cures. While we do our best to cut stress relief lines in the concrete, sometimes the surface will take on a mind of it’s own. Hairline cracks are not troublesome and while it can seem a little unfair that your concrete developed a hairline crack despite having stress joints cut, please rest assured these cracks are normal parts of the concrete drying process and should you wish to have them corrected, we can discuss ways to avoid unnecessary expense when you feel that those new thin surface cracks must be removed.
Yes you can. But we don’t recommend it. Here’s why: consumer grade concrete is meant for fence posts or other simple use cases. The mixture of water, portland cement and other fillers is important to factor before starting a project. Mixing your own concrete may save a few dollars but is a messy, long process that can result in spillage, sunk costs and undesireable outcomes. Our finishers rely on our ready mix and we don’t recommend you mix your own cement when hiring a concrete contractor.
